My brother was drafted for this crazy war in 1970. He said everyone that was in VietNam whether they were soldiers or civilians were contaminated. He was one of the luckier ones so far. Not only chemicals but the whole idea of killing another person is abhorrent to me. How many of our soldiers in this recent fiasco in Iraq & Afghanistan are mentally afflicted by what they saw and what they were told to do and how many more innocents in these lands were maimed or killed. It's a disgrace.
Yes it's so sad that some where in the world someone is killing someone else and seeing things no one should really see. I agree that the mental cost is far higher yet gets ignored far more. I hate to think the number of people afflicted by PTSD!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and for viewing my work, it is most appreciated
It refers to a chemical called Agent Orange which the US used in the Vietnam war. They sprayed it over jungles and forest to kill off the trees and vegetation so the enemy couldn't use it as cover or shelter. The thing is it killed off far more, polluted rivers, lakes making fish too toxic to eat, it got in the soil and contaminated crops. It gave people cancer, babies were born with defects and disabilities, miscarriages or still born etc. Still to this day people are suffering from the effects of what was technically an illegal chemical weapon and the US have paid no compensation to the people of Vietnam. They've reluctantly paid money to former US service men who were effected.
